Ohio barbers need 4 CE hours per renewal cycle: 1 hour of Board Laws & Rules (a free course from the Board) and 3 hours of Infection Control & Safety. The current cycle runs September 1, 2024 – August 15, 2026, and license renewal itself is due by August 31, 2026. Barbers licensed 30+ years, age 65+, or newly licensed may be exempt from CE — but everyone still owes the renewal fee.

The current CE cycle runs from September 1, 2024 through August 15, 2026 — all CE hours must be finished by that date. License renewal itself must be completed by August 31, 2026, or a late fee applies. If your hours aren’t finished by August 15, you won’t be able to complete new courses again until September 1, 2026, when the next cycle’s courses open.
Exempt or not, every licensee must still pay the renewal fee to keep an active license.
